Michael Perry Goodman
Born 1980, Chicago

Works based around the balance between harsh dissonant noise and pure consonant harmony. Walls of sound created to play at both very quiet, sublime levels or at extremely high volumes of sonic energy. Much of the harmonic content is derived from American popular music and dance music, essentially transducing the original sound from the intended purpose to something more oblique and amorphous, while retaining much of the sounds original integrity, using a variety of methods and tools.

Earliest musical experience in an electronic forum involved magnetic cassette tape, recording music and creating sound collages using television, video games, voice and various other media. Participated in grunge and death metal bands during formative years playing guitar, bass, drums, and vocals, as well as learning how to mix 4-track tape and record instruments. Later attending the Art Institute of Seattle to study audio recording and production, and the Art Institute of California – Orange County to study graphic and web design.

Live performances are improvised based around source materials and mirroring in-studio working methodology. Performance gear is constantly changing but ranges from a laptop computer to electric guitar and microphones fed into digital and analog effects and mixed together live creating new and unique experiences. No two live performances are ever identical.
